Katelin Stack as Candace
Character Description
Candace can't help it. She's just being honest. She's unapologetically herself and one gets the feeling her son would know that and not be surprised. She's trying to stay strong and not show too much emotion, maybe to a fault. So when she does show a little emotion, it goes a long way.
Scene Description
Candace's teenage son has been in an accident and lies in the hospital bed in a coma. No one else has joined her yet. Unsure of whether he can hear her or not, she talks to him. The problem is she's in her head and what comes out might not be what most moms might say. But she's not like most moms.

ActorYou were fantastic! I could see and feel the relationship between you and your son! By far the best performance of this scene that I've watched

ActorHello Katelin!
I loved the realism of your tape, and you fit this role very well. I commend you for your use of space and giving time to breathe and really sit in this role and with these subtle surfacing emotions. The breaks and timing between lines felt so real, and yet the piece did not lag; the character work was there, and it was wonderful!
Great job and keep up the great work!

ActorFantastic Katelin! Loved how you came in with movement. I could see the exhaustion on your face and hear it in your voice. And your first look at your son had me on the verge of tears. All the technical stuff was great.
A couple of small things to consider trying - try slowing the pace just a little with a quieter voice to really draw us in. And maybe lean forward as if you're touching your son/holding his hand - we would get a closer look into your eyes.
Just my 2 cents. Brilliant work!

ActorKatelin,
I have watched a lot of these self-tapes, and this one is the first one that I've wanted to comment on. You did a fantastic job! You were so natural, and I could feel the emotions through your portrayal of this character. I enjoyed it.
