Character Description
Michael is a good guy, but caught up in the transition from one social pressure to another, experiencing a bit of a midlife crisis. As a man who was raised without a manly figure in the household, he had succumbed to a skewed perspective of how a man should be, and is on the hunt for his true masculine identity.
He is the recent recipient of a family home, after the passing of his uncle who left the property to him. It's an exciting time, but a challenging one, as he discovers there is a creature threatening his family's safety and he is the only one who can do something about it.
Scene Description
Michael and his daughter Kylie have a bit of a tense relationship at the moment. Michael and his wife have recently separated, and he is in the process of "finding himself" and seeking real masculinity. Kylie sees right through it, but doesn't have the wisdom to express it in the best way. However, she loves her dad, but is a bit fed up with his hemming and hawing, and just wants him to be her Dad, and to act like it.
In addition, there is an eerie atmosphere as a "creature in the woods" is haunting the house, creating a challenge that brings out the best - and the worst - in both of them.

ActorReally good work here. Very believable, very in the moment. I saw a dad more interested in what he was watching than having that difficult conversation at that time. We dads have all been there before. I liked the choice for her to go behind where you were sitting, and the eyework was fantastic. My only peeve was the improved glass; a real drink would have been less distracting. However, if I were in the casting chair, the performance would have overridden that. Well done!

I was a little bit confused when Kylee was leaving and you did a full head rotation but eventually figured out why.
The tone of your scene was genuine and the banter you had with your daughter felt very authentic.
The way you raised your voice to call for her was- perfect! Good job.

ActorGood job! I understand the imagining the Kylie character is off to the side and walking behind you. I would have had the character and my eyeline barely off to the right of the camera with my distracted look off to the left. The sides explain the posture, I think you should have used a closer shot to give casting the best look of your face.

ActorNice work, Johnny. You get my vote on this audition. BUT you have some things you can clean up to make this audition even better. First, lose the pantomime with the drink.Every time you 'drink' it reinforces we're watching an actor act not a character live. You're so right for this and the acting is terrific. I'd reframe the shot as well, make it more like casting usually asks for with a medium shot. The top of the frame is perfect but there's too much 'scenery' and you're not as big in the frame as you should be. Also, you need an off camera wireless mic (<$50) to get rid of camera noise.
