Becky Bartlett as Dolores
Character Description
Dolores is nearly a genius, but has enough common sense to counterbalance madness. Her weakness is overconfidence that she convinces herself is a form of optimism. She has a PhD. in Bioengineering where her specialty was microbiology and tech infusion. She grew up in poverty and is the only "successful" member of her family. She is single and wholeheartedly devoted to her work. Her love for helping people has turned into a messiah complex, of which she denies. However, her heart is genuine, if only she would listen to it.
Scene Description
This scene takes place toward the end of Dolores's story, after she has gone through a literal hell in a dystopian aftermath - the result of her own doing. The world has been destroyed by a superbug that she created with philanthropic intentions and she is one of few remaining survivors. She has seen death, betrayal, violence, and what happens to humans when extinction is imminent.
To top it off, she has been pregnant throughout, and just gave birth in a dilapidated warehouse. While she has hope for her baby's future, it is a futile hope, like a lit match in a dark tunnel.

ActorThis was the most genuine work I have seen you do on here, and there have been lots of good performances. I liked just about everything, including the background warfare, the baby crying, and the baby. I felt transported to your world. The performance was understated, which was appropriate considering the tone of the piece. Very believable. If I had one critique, it would be to only pause the recorder once. Great work!

ActorGood job! Nice look for this scene. Were those no-lens glass frames? There was no glare in your glasses. This is an interesting scene because you can actually use the camera as a character and talk straight into it. Even to the point of adjusting it a or bumping it, almost like a bad self tape. Think brilliant scientist but not to savvy on media-production technique.

ActorAwesome job Becky! Loved your look and urgency. Great emotional prep especially talking about your friend. Nice addition with the baby at the end.
One consideration - might add a layer of darkness over this. It felt a little too bright given the circumstance. Maybe a Sarah Conner / Terminator feel. You definitely would have a quiet rage. You're talking about destroying the world, which includes millions just like your friend that you lost. What type of attitude leads someone to rationalize that? Just a thought! Great work as always!

ActressI like that you really took time to immerse us in your world before you started speaking! One suggestion is from an acting book I just read - do the first line of a monologue with the emotion of the last line. So when you started talking about your childhood friend you kind of smiled and got nostalgic. But the story is really actually about her death and it’s sad! So doing that first line while picturing the end and it’s tragedy. It might just be another way to play around with it. You’re a great actress and I love your videos!

ActressHey Becky! I'm glad to see your work again
Here are things that brighten-up my day:
You know your lines so you can experiment with characters rather than recall lines
You have the eye-lines/lighting down so viewers forget it
You choose a different character than first thought
You're not afraid to stand out and create what you know you can believe
And I know you helped this character find her reasons for her written actions just like the ones you made for her, they just didn’t come across on screen so I would love to see them played up more
I believe in you & where He's taking you. Blessings!

ActressI really enjoyed your tape! The only constructive note I have is that the sound effects took me out of the scene a bit. It might be a personal preference but I don't think you needed them.
