Character Description
Francine is a sweet, compassionate woman, always ready to dispense wisdom and understanding to the younger ladies in her charge. Thanks to her personality, she makes for a good manager in the business realm. She garners respect not through brute force but through compassion. Colbie has been working under her for about two years now. Because Francine has seen how hard Colbie's worked and how devoted she is, it pains Francine to have to let Colbie go.

Scene Description
This scene was taken from a narrative about a young woman named Colbie whose life is turned upside down by her out-of-control porn addiction.

In the scene, Colbie's boss, who, earlier in the story, stumbled across a smutty website on Colbie's work computer, is put in the awkward position of firing Colbie. The two women get along fairly well, which makes the task all the harder.

Nice job with this. Here are a few things that will improve future self-tapes: Frame just a bit over the top of your head, you're a little too tight. Most have too much room overhead, you need a bit more. Just to emphasize the framing: when you move toward the camera, at times the frame is almost to the top of your glasses. Go for more stillness in the frame and you'll command attention. Be careful about adjusting your hair, especially with a punch line like at the end of the scene. That hurt the moment there. You have expressive eyes, careful not to go too 'wide eyed'. Great role for you.

Great work Sue Ellen! Loved your connection with her and your clear discomfort at having to fire her. Slowing down before dropping the bomb was awesome.

A couple of minor thoughts - you were blinking a lot in places. Less blinking gives you more power as the boss in this scene. Might consider more reaction to her "flattered" line. It looked like you were anticipating it.

Just my 2 cents! Nice job!

Enjoyed your tape. Just want to point out a few technical things. Try raising your camera just a bit so we see the top of your head. It also looked like you were looking up at your reader as opposed to across the desk. I think you said "Clara" instead of Sarah the first time. Reader also started to mispronounce her "Husband's" name. Oops. But still enjoyed the performance!

Loved your interpretation of this character. You brought a firmness and shock that solidified how horrifying this incident was. It felt very realistic.
I also appreciated that you looked down and changed your eyeline when she started crying. I would have liked you to keep that eyeline for the rest of the scene but it was still fantastic! Great work!

Sue Ellen-great choices with a solid delivery! I like your backdrop color, goes well with your skin tone, but be careful wearing a shirt/blouse that is a similar shade, One other note is to make sure your top framing is higher. When you were sitting up straight, the top of your head was cut off.
