Helena Studmire as Candace
Character Description
Candace can't help it. She's just being honest. She's unapologetically herself and one gets the feeling her son would know that and not be surprised. She's trying to stay strong and not show too much emotion, maybe to a fault. So when she does show a little emotion, it goes a long way.
Scene Description
Candace's teenage son has been in an accident and lies in the hospital bed in a coma. No one else has joined her yet. Unsure of whether he can hear her or not, she talks to him. The problem is she's in her head and what comes out might not be what most moms might say. But she's not like most moms.

ActressHelena, this is a solid self tape! I found myself laughing a little as you described the relationship with your son as it so mirrors mine with my daughter. I LOVED your naturalness with this tape. I could feel every moment you were having. The one fix I would suggest, is the editing of your tape. Make sure to cut out your turning off the camera. There are ways to do this depending on what editing program you are using.

ActressSo real and believable! I love the way you set up the pillow. It wasn’t distracting,& you touching it at the end-nice way to end. The phone call was grounded, well done! I really LOVE your work!
Some things to think about: Levels & pacing. Find places to change up the energy, speed, & volume so it has peaks & valleys. Framing: crop in a little, lots of space above your head. You’re wonderfully, emotionally connected, so we need to get a closer view of that!
