Character Description
Milton loves his daughter but was an alcoholic when she was growing up. She resents him for this and they haven't spoken in years after he cut her out of his life. He didn't approve of her current husband (seeing that he was an alcoholic like he was) and also saw that he was abusive. Not knowing how to help his daughter, he cut her out, hoping she would see the truth. But things have gotten worse. Now that he has kidney disease, he needs his daughter's help, but more importantly, he wants to make amends before it's too late.
Scene Description
When a dying, recovering alcoholic invites his estranged, resentful daughter to come to dinner to say his final goodbye, he realizes she’s trapped in an emotionally abusive marriage and wants to make amends with her before it's too late.
Milton wants to have a nice meal with his daughter, but it's hard for her to overcome her resentment towards him from the past.
