Character Description
Claire is a deeply resilient and self-sacrificing person, but she’s also burdened by years of suppressed frustration and unacknowledged sacrifices. Her sharpness and occasional bitterness mask a profound weariness and emotional vulnerability that come from carrying too much for too long. She has a strong sense of duty, especially toward family, which has led her to repeatedly put others’ needs ahead of her own, even at great personal cost. However, the weight of these sacrifices has left her feeling stuck, invisible, and resentful.

Scene Description
Claire has spent her entire adult life taking care of her free-spirit younger brother, bailing him out every time his new ventures fail. Tonight, she is over it and confronts him.

I liked your take on her, but you need to be centered in the frame.... that was a big drawback on your tape along with the song being so quiet.....

You are on the right track though. You had a good take on this script

It would be better if you in the center of the shot during most of the audition. However, your performance was spot on. Keep up the good work.

I love this Madelin! You're so real and grounded. I could definitely see you in this role. Love your emotional prep, but I think you can take it to another level.

How does it really feel that you've given up your life for your deadbeat brother? You wanted a family and a better career, but he took that from you. This is your chance to explode on him and release the resentment that's been building for years. Shouting, more tears, throwing dishes - all reasonable options!

Technically, look across the camera if you're positioning yourself on one side. Great work!

PRO! You are a Pro! 10 out of 10! Blown away by your performance! Love how you gave the audience a minute before and after to connect with the character. Love the action of washing dishes! Love the beat change from anger to sadness! This was a top level self tape!!

Good job! I loved the close up of your face. if you could have centered the frame a bit more. It seems half of the screen is empty space and you are talking to the side of the frame. Centering your face will give space for the heavy words to have a place to be. Loved the emotional gear shift at 1:28 from preachy to hurt. I prefer that last line to be very weighty. You've carried him for a long time and that's not ok.

Really loved your tape! One technical thing - You were so far to the edge of the frame the whole time with your reader on the same side. Would have been nice if you were more centered with a slight body angle towards either side of the lens. Too much empty space can be a tad distracting, I was wondering if you were ever going to move or shift your body to fill some of the space. but the performance was solid, just wish you had moved a little more into the frame

Loved your choice to lose the anger and give over to emotion and regret while talking about friends marrying and having children. I’ve seen numerous “Claire”s and I believe you might be unique in making that choice. Very nice!!

Madelin,
Very well done. I really liked your business, I could hear you scrubbing a dish or something and it made it realistic. Your range of emotions was so well portrayed. It was raw and real. I liked that you had space on one side of the frame, I just would have liked it to be on the side where you put the other character, then it would look like there was space between you. It was stellar. Good work.

Good grounded work. I liked your delivery, even though I could not hear your reader very well. I would suggest that the framing be more centered.
