Actress from Crockett, Texas
ABScore 90.6

Character Description
Dolores is nearly a genius, but has enough common sense to counterbalance madness. Her weakness is overconfidence that she convinces herself is a form of optimism. She has a PhD. in Bioengineering where her specialty was microbiology and tech infusion. She grew up in poverty and is the only "successful" member of her family. She is single and wholeheartedly devoted to her work. Her love for helping people has turned into a messiah complex, of which she denies. However, her heart is genuine, if only she would listen to it.

Scene Description
This scene takes place toward the end of Dolores's story, after she has gone through a literal hell in a dystopian aftermath - the result of her own doing. The world has been destroyed by a superbug that she created with philanthropic intentions and she is one of few remaining survivors. She has seen death, betrayal, violence, and what happens to humans when extinction is imminent.

To top it off, she has been pregnant throughout, and just gave birth in a dilapidated warehouse. While she has hope for her baby's future, it is a futile hope, like a lit match in a dark tunnel.

Great job with this piece. Not an easy piece to do, either. I have seen many people do this monologue, and yours was the first to show real depth. From the beginning, you did a great job of presenting the environment and the added background crash in the beginning, chef's kiss. Loved it! The other actress was really good too, and I had to watch yours twice before making my decision. Ultimately, I chose you because of the stakes involved and the depth you displayed.

Britt! I really enjoyed your read! I felt all the emotions especially going back to your young friend! My only thought physically & I say this because I deal with this: I’d suggest working on not blinking. Blinking to emphasize dialogue or thoughts work but continuous blinking takes viewers out of the scene! Really nice!

Great job Britt, I enjoyed it! I really felt your emotions when talking about choking on the cap.

Great job Britt! I really loved your emotional prep. You truly relived your childhood story and broke my heart! All of your technical stuff was strong.

Some thoughts - Your pacing was good though could have been a little faster in places. After you take a breath and say the line, "I know a lot of people have died...", you might consider letting that sadness turn to a quiet rage. You're talking about destroying the world, which includes millions just like your friend that you lost. What type of attitude leads someone to rationalize that? Your arc at the end would be more powerful.

Good job! Some really nice emotional points. Good sound and lights. Be careful with wardrobe not being really close to your background. I like having the screen there as the camera. In this scene you can actually use the camera as a character. Just an option to think about.
