Character Description
Kylie is a modern teenage girl. She's a little snotty, thinks she knows everything, and couldn't be bothered to smile. However, it's a facade and not a good one. She is smart, and doesn't hide it. She's the kind of kid who gets straight A's and pretends like she doesn't care.

She wants what is best for her dad and her family but has a hard time expressing it without coming off like a brat. She is willing to make hard decisions to make her point, but would rather just be a teenager who doesn't have to act like a parent.

Scene Description
Michael (40) and his daughter Kylie (16) have an argument over the previous night's experience. Kylie went to watch movies at a friends house, drank 3 alcoholic spritz waters, and came home drunk.

The two have a dynamic that's on thin ice as it is. Michael is having a type of mid-life crisis, recently divorced, and is trying to "find himself" by diving into his lost masculinity. Kylie is actually a good kid at heart, but can't stand how her dad is behaving, and is pushing the envelope. On top of all this, a creature in the woods is haunting the property.

Great read, I just have a few tech notes. 1. Don't look directly at camera, find a spot just to the right or left of the lens. 2. Have a reader, we need both sides of the conversation. 3. Get a solid color backdrop. Take a look at some audition tapes on youtube to get a idea. Great job...keep it up!

Great job Alyssa! A suggestion that I would make to improve your self tapes are to learn about eyeline. Typically, actors don't look into the camera when speaking, unless they are breaking the "4th wall", and that is a specific technique. Try finding a place somewhere behind your camera to label as your scene partner, a lamp, photo on the wall, something like that, and look at that when you are speaking so that you aren't looking directly into the camera. Also, it is hard to find someone to read for you, but that will help your self tapes a lot.
