Gina Renee Valenzuela as Dolores
Character Description
Dolores is nearly a genius, but has enough common sense to counterbalance madness. Her weakness is overconfidence that she convinces herself is a form of optimism. She has a PhD. in Bioengineering where her specialty was microbiology and tech infusion. She grew up in poverty and is the only "successful" member of her family. She is single and wholeheartedly devoted to her work. Her love for helping people has turned into a messiah complex, of which she denies. However, her heart is genuine, if only she would listen to it.
Scene Description
This scene takes place toward the end of Dolores's story, after she has gone through a literal hell in a dystopian aftermath - the result of her own doing. The world has been destroyed by a superbug that she created with philanthropic intentions and she is one of few remaining survivors. She has seen death, betrayal, violence, and what happens to humans when extinction is imminent.
To top it off, she has been pregnant throughout, and just gave birth in a dilapidated warehouse. While she has hope for her baby's future, it is a futile hope, like a lit match in a dark tunnel.

Actressdang! I could feel your emotion!! Great job making the audience feel what you were feeling! impressive. The only notes was to maybe increase your speed a little and not to look away from the camera too much, but great job!!

ActorGood job! At first I thought your pacing was a little slow but as it went on I really liked it. One could feel the memory of Anna. There were a couple of reflections in your glasses. This scene is interesting because the camera is a character. The reflections support the thought of a monitor that is written in the scene.

Actor | WriterGina, I could feel the wheels churning as you spoke.
You thought about what you were saying, and you MEANT what you were saying - it was more than just reciting your lines. Excellent work!
One suggestion. Your reflective pauses were perhaps too frequent which detracted from the intended impact

ActorNice job Gina! Technical stuff was great. Loved how you were remembering your experience with your childhood friend.
Some thoughts - the pace could be much quicker. Some of the pauses felt overly drawn out. You were very calm - I didn't feel the dystopian climate that you were in. I'd love to see more emotional depth and arc for your character. You've just destroyed the world and now you're trying to survive it. How does that make you feel? At the end, are you really glad you caused it?
Just my 2 cents. Nice work!

ActressI appreciate your take on this role but this is already a very long script and she probably has a sense of urgency to getting this msg recorded. It felt draggy with extra long pauses -try picking up the pace. if you wait too long CD's will lose interested because it looks like you either forgot the lines - your are checking the script when you look to the side or you are just doing dramatic pauses. 30 seconds in and barely said the opening line. build the tension because of the situation of the scene - maybe she's scared for not only her life but also her baby's.

ActressHi Gina, great job on your self-tape! You used long pauses very effectively, and I could definitely see you playing this role. One suggestion would be to only smile a couple times at the childhood memories. She is describing a tragedy, so too much smiling, or smiling too long, seems a bit out of place. However, awesome job overall! I really enjoyed your performance!
