Character Description

John grew up the oldest son of his revered pastor father with the knowledge that he would eventually follow in his footsteps and inherit his father's church. Recently, his father passed away and the transition of leadership has been rocky as he deals with dwindling congregation numbers, a controlling board making decisions without him and corralling an errant brother who never quite grew up. When Jessa whirls back into his life, he seizes the opportunity to step away from it all and maybe remember who he was before all this happened. And how he ever let her get away.

Scene Context

Struggling pastor John (20s/30s) has just run into his childhood sweetheart Jessa (20s/30s) who followed her dreams of becoming an actress and is now rocketing to stardom. She gives him a tour of her upscale L.A. apartment as they get reacquainted... bringing up the recollection they didn't part ways on the best of terms.
